The Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Village Offices with no guest present.

Trustees Present: Elizabeth Wenning, Janel Schulte, Kylie Lange, Keith Selhorst, Mindy Schwieterman, Brad Niekamp, Jack Schwegman, Jason Wood, Brittany Uhlenhake, Sher Stahl, Amber Evers, Nathan Burtch & Eric Thomas.

President Elizabeth Wenning called the meeting to order at 7:33 a.m.

Officer Reports

Treasurer’s Report- was presented by Keith Selhorst, our biggest income this month was dues for 2019. We had a few expenses to finish up the year but most of it was from Hometown Christmas & the year’s stipends. Keith did a quick recap on the Hometown Christmas final cost which was $1,754.27. Keith also reviewed the 2018 budget and we were $2,500 less than budgeted for expenses and $3,000 greater than budgeted for income. In March a 2019 budget will be reviewed and set. The reports were motioned for approval by Mindy Schwieterman and seconded by Brittany Uhlenhake. Motion carried.

Checking Balance – $24,457.97

Gift Certificate Balance – $15,275.04

Secretary’s Report– the minutes from the December meeting were provided prior to the meeting date by Secretary Kylie Lange. The meeting minutes were approved with a motion by Jason Wood and seconded by Brad Niekamp. Motion carried.

. Committee Reports

Santa House/Tree Decoration – Due to decaying steps the chamber/village is working with Lefeld Welding to create a ramp on the east side of house so it will now be handicap accessible. New electrical cords will need to be purchased in 2019 to prevent fire hazards. The chamber has accepted a donation of Toy Soldiers to add to the Santa House next year. High School students are willing to help again next year with any upgrades for the Santa House. Eric Thomas mentioned the village will be installing a few more light poles on 2nd Street so more Christmas banners will be needed for next year.

Banquet – Event will be held on February 13th, 2019. Kylie has contacted Marcia Homan and the date is reserved at the American Legion. Invites have been sent.  Meals and Desserts are confirmed. Liz is going to contact Coldwater Flowers on the center pieces. Mercer Color will begin program design. Donations for the banquet can be taken directly to the Village Offices.

Old Business

2019 Trustees – Four of the current trustees will be finishing their terms in February. We are in need of 4 new trustees. Nominees for new trustees are: Shelley Grieshop from Totally Promotional, Keith Kessen from Buzzards Glory Community Club/Kessen Designs, Megan Stull from State of the Heart and Gina Hess from Preferred Insurance will take their place.

New Officers – Brad Niekamp agreed to be a nominee for Vice President for the upcoming year. Janel Schulte will move up to President, as Elizabeth Wenning’s term is expiring. Keith Selhorst agreed to remain in his position if elected. A new secretary will be appointed in March.

WSU Lake Campus Welcome Back Package – Packages are being assembled. 

New Business

New Directory – New Directories will be printed in March of 2019. Members must have dues paid by March 1st to be marked a Chamber Member in 2019 directory.

Mindy Schwieterman motioned to adjourn the meeting and seconded by Amber Evers.  President Liz Wenning adjourned the meeting at 8:03 AM.
